The tick can lay 3000-7000 eggs, which is a rather disturbing figure. If they bring in adult ticks that enjoy a good, satisfying, days-long blood meal and then mate, the female will drop off the host animal to lay her eggs—typically thousands of them at a time.
Ticks lay eggs in places with vegetation. They may choose cracks formed in the ground, especially if they are near the animal’s resting place. As soon as the eggs hatch, the house and animals may be affected by the invasion. The tick can lay 3000-7000 eggs, which is a rather disturbing figure.
Female ticks lay as many as 2,000 eggs to 18,000 eggs. Unfortunately, female ticks die after laying eggs, except for soft ticks. Soft ticks consume several small blood meals and lay eggs several times. When temperature and moisture are at suitable levels, the eggs hatch and the tick life cycle starts all over again.
As a matter of fact, a single female tick can lay as many as 6,000 eggs once she has feed on a host. The squash vine borer also lays small brown eggs as do some species of beetles.
Even though a tick is no more than 2mm in size, one tick can lay thousands of eggs. But don’t worry, tick eggs are actually easier to spot than ticks themselves, and they aren’t infectious at this stage.
